1.        Background​

P
roposed internal addition to existing factory including a Bio. Diesel Production unit and an extension to the existing factory including a Bio. Plant with PV Panels on the roof.

Location: H
HF29, Hal Far, Qasam Industrijali, Birzebbuga, Malta.


The proposal requires an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as per Schedule I, Category I, Section 12.3.1.1 (
Integrated chemical installations (i.e. installations for the manufacture of substances on an industrial scale, using chemical conversion processes in which several units are juxtaposed and are functionally linked to one another) for the production of:  (i) basic organic or inorganic chemicals;  (ii) phosphorus-, nitrogen-, or potassium-based fertilisers (simple or compound fertilisers); (iii) basic plant health products or biocides; (iv) basic pharmaceutical products using a chemical or biological process; (v) explosives; or (vi) any other product not listed above but which requires similar treatment.) of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (S.L. 549.46).


2.        Consultation Questions

The Environment and Resources Authority is in receipt of the EIA Report on the development mentioned above. The general public is invited to submit written comments on the said documentation.
