1.        Background

The proposal is for a second electrical interconnector underwater and onshore cable link between the Magħtab Terminal Station at Qalet Marku area in Malta and the Ragusa 220kV TERNA substation.

The proposal requires an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as per Schedule I, Category II, Section 13.0.2.1 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (S.L. 549.46).  Moreover, the proposed development also qualifies for EIA screening and assessment under Regulation 10 (3).


2.        Consultation Questions
 
The Environment and Resources Authority is formulating terms of reference for the preparation of an EIA Report on the development mentioned above. The general public is invited to submit written comments on matters it wishes to see included in the terms of reference.
