1.        Background

The proposal seeks the installation of equipment for the production of biodiesel through the following processes: (i) reception of edible oil brought in from collectors’ rounds, (ii) storage of waste oil and process chemicals (methanol), (iii) pre-treatment of used cooking oil by esterification, and (iv) production of biodiesel in the reaction vessel via transesterification.

The proposed development falls under Schedule I, Category I, Section  of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2017 (S.L. 549.46).

The Environment and Resources Authority is formulating terms of reference for the preparation of an Environmental Impact Assessment Update of the development mentioned above. The general public is invited to submit written comments on matters it wishes to see included in the terms of reference.
